MATCH PREVIEW

An underwhelming, but desperate-to-improve AC Milan side stand in the way of Cagliari, who are looking to steer clear of the relegation zone in Serie A (SA).
The hosts are 16th in the points tally and just five points above the bottom three. A win this weekend has the potential of lifting them as high as 13th and just two places behind their esteemed visitors. And, the fact that this is the best time to play Milan gives them the right impetus for this game!
The seven-time European Champions have been struggling to justify the summer splurge and coach Gennaro Gattuso is looking to be consistent. That they haven’t had back-to-back victories since September tells the story of how they have underperformed!
What should spur the visitors is the poor home record of Cagliari. The hosts are winless in their last four SA home games (D1, L3) and have just one win (W1, D2, L4) in their last seven SA games.
However, Milan do not boast a creditable away record in SA this season. They are winless in their last four trips (D2, L2) in SA, but the confidence stemming from beating Inter Milan in the Coppa Italia and a hard-fought win over Crotone in the SA should spur them on!
Key battles: Cagliari’s Leonardo Pavoletti has five goals to his name, but the one he will remember is the goal he scored for Genoa in October 2016 against Milan.
In opposition will be Milan’s Suso who has five goals and three assists to his credit, but he hasn’t scored in his last seven matches – his longest drought since February. Will he get back his scoring boots?
Stat attack: Cagliari won 2-1 in May last season, which was their first home win over Milan for 19 years.

League: FRANCE: Ligue 1 – Round 22
Match: 20:00 Strasbourg – Dijon
Prediction: Over 1.5 Goals
Average odds: 1.30
Bookmaker: bwin
Result: 3:2 WIN!!!

MATCH PREVIEW

It will be almost impossible for Dijon to lose like they did in the last fixture against PSG (8-0). Conceding eight goals with no reply has also given them the unwanted record of conceding 42 goals in Ligue 1 (L1) – a league high.
Strasbourg were also dominated in their previous fixture, losing 2-0 away to Marseille. It could have finished 3-0 if Valere Germain had scored his penalty chance.
Eleventh-placed Dijon sit one point and one position above Strasbourg in mid-table. Both teams are desperate for a win as they are only two losses away from the relegation positions – depending on other results.
Defender Lala Kenny has spoken about the importance of this game after Strasbourg have seen three defeats without scoring in L1: \”The team is not in doubt. What we are missing right now is efficiency, in front and behind. We have shown against Dijon in the Coupe de France that we are able to do well. We know what we have to do”.
Players to watch: Strasbourg’s 20-year-old forward Terrier Martin, unlocked Dijon’s defense and scored in the reverse fixture. He will hope to score again and improve his record of three goals and two assists in L1 so far.
Twenty-three-year old South Korean international Chang-Hoon Kwon is currently Dijon’s top scorer with five goals and three assists. Perhaps playing against Neymar in their previous fixture will inspire him.
Stat attack: Dijon have the worst away record in L1, failing to win in their last five and conceding 28 goals in their ten away games – an average of 2.8 goals per game.
Strasbourg have failed to find any form at home, and their last five games have produced 19 goals, an average of 3.8 goals per game.

Match Preview

Runaway league leaders Paris Saint-Germain welcome ninth-placed Dijon to the Parc des Princes for this 21st round of Ligue 1 (L1). PSG have learnt from the mistakes of last season it seems after losing the league title to Monaco – PSG now top the table with an 11 point gap between them. PSG will look to further broaden their gap at the top, with evenly matched Monaco and Lyon in second and third.
Dijon are enjoying somewhat of a positive season, sitting comfortably in the top-half of the table after scraping survival last term. These successes have mainly come at home though as they are the second worst form side for away games this term. Having won just one of nine games on the road (W1, D2, L6), they face a mammoth task here in toppling PSG in the capital.
October saw the first league meeting of the season between these two, a hard-fought game which saw Dijon providing the title chasers with a much tougher test than they had anticipated. Olivier Dall\’Oglio’s men equalised in the 87th minute, only to fall to a 2-1 loss with the last action of the game by defender Thomas Meunier.
Dall’Oglio has been busy in the window trying to keep his back line fresh and they’ve brought in a loan signing so far during the January transfer window. Defender Adam Lang has made the move from Nancy, whilst Monaco youth product Dylan Bahamboula has gone the other way to Ajaccio as he cannot currently break into the first team.
Players to watchNeymar is a big doubt for this game, yet that does not mean PSG are without a constant threat at goal, as Edinson Cavani is currently the league\’s top scorer with 19 goals and has been involved in the most goals with three assists to his name – he has two goals in his last three appearances.
Dijon have shared the spoils amongst their players this term, three all have five goals and two assists – Kwon Chang-Hoon, Wesley Said, and Julio Tavares. The latter of the three (Tavares) has scored in his last two appearances.
Stat attack: PSG are unbeaten in their last 33 home league games, winning their last ten by a 2+ goal margin (L1). PSG have won their last five vs Dijon in all competitions, the last four such occasions have produced over 2.5 goals in total. Dijon have lost their last four away games, and have conceded 3+ goals in their last three on the road (L1).
