⚽ Brazil – Colombia Predictions

Brazil – Colombia Tips and Odds. November 12, 01:30 World Cup – Qualification .

Brazil – Colombia Preview

  • It’s surely only a matter of time until Brazil’s progression to the 2022 FIFA World Cup finals is confirmed. A 4-1 trouncing of Uruguay last time out extended the Seleção’s unbeaten run in World Cup qualification (WCQ) matches to 28 outings (W22, D6), keeping them on course to finish top of the CONMEBOL standings for a fourth time across five editions of the 18-game qualification format.
  • Brazil are further aiming to make it a dozen consecutive WCQ home wins in a row, though their current run of 11 is already a national record in this century. Many expect continued dominance for the five-time world champions here as well, as eight of their last ten WCQ home games have seen a clean sheet win by two or more goals.
  • Though Colombia are aiming to reach a third-successive World Cup edition, they find themselves in a precarious position. A widely-expected defeat in this clash would leave them vulnerable to finishing this international break adrift of the playoff berth (fifth place).
  • With no victory in any prior WCQ clash against Brazil (D7, L6) the signs look ominous for the visitors, especially after recording a hat-trick of goalless draws in October’s qualifiers. Alarmingly for the ‘Coffee Growers’, Colombia’s most recent run of 4+ WCQ games without scoring dates back to 2008 – that was during the nation’s last failure to qualify for the World Cup.
  • Key battle: Brazil’s Raphinha proved his mettle by scoring either side of half-time (including the decider) against Uruguay last month. Facing him with trepidation is visiting goalkeeper David Ospina, but he’ll be motivated by the opportunity to be the first Colombian to keep four straight WCQ clean sheets since Óscar Córdoba in 2000.
  • Hot stat: Three of Brazil’s last four handicap-beating WCQ home wins have seen them score inside the opening 20 minutes.
