MATCH PREVIEW

TOTTENHAM v PSV (CHAMPIONS LEAGUE - GROUP STAGE)

Time is ticking for Tottenham and PSV ahead of their second Champions League (CL) Group B clash. The sides drew 2-2 in the previous round after an eventful 90 minutes, a result that didn’t particularly suit either side.
Neither team will be able to qualify for the round-of-16 should they fail to win and Inter Milan beat Barcelona at home.
Tottenham are winless in each of their past five European matches (D2, L3), yet they are not short of entertainment, as all five of those games saw both teams score and over 2.5 goals in the game.
The last time Spurs faced Dutch opposition on English soil, they blew the then Eredivisie Champions, Twente, away by a 4-1 scoreline. The current Champions, PSV, are also known for their leaky defence on this stage, and they have conceded at least two goals in eight of their last ten CL matches.
The visitors have a dire recent record away from home in Europe, and have won just one of their last 12, including qualifiers (W1, D4, L7). Additionally, PSV failed to win a single game in their last group appearance in 2016/17 (D2, L4).
Players to watch: Heung-min Son has scored or assisted a goal in each of his last two Tottenham appearances (one assist, two goals) – those goals were his first competitively since the World Cup.
Luuk de Jong has scored four goals across his last four PSV appearances, in all competitions – including the 87th minute equaliser in the reverse fixture.
Stat attack: Tottenham have conceded two or more goals in each of their last five CL games – notably, Spurs keeper Hugo Lloris faces a ban.
Nervy affair? Just four of PSV’s 16 away games in England have produced over 2.5 goals (in all competitions).
PSV broke a domestic record with victory at the weekend, becoming the first Dutch side to win 11 straight games to open a season.
