MATCH PREVIEW

These teams last met back in January when Aston Villa hammered Bristol City 5-0 in a gripping encounter that included goals in both halves.
It’s two straight away league losses for Bristol City now which is disheartening for ‘The Robins’ following their previous four successive league wins (W4, D2, L3). The hosts have, however, managed two home wins on the bounce – a feat they last achieved back in March. The last time they won three home games on the bounce was in December last year.
Bristol City have secured clean sheets in 75% of their league wins so far this season. What’s more, goals have come before half-time in three out of four victories – including one game that saw a goal in the very first minute!
Villa (W3, D4, L2) have hit a wall in the Championship, winning just once in their last seven (W1, D4, L2), and haven’t won away since the first day of the season. They have scored in all but one of their 11 competitive fixtures this season though, while Villa boss Steve Bruce has a fine record against ‘The Robins’, never losing a game against them (W4, D3)!
Their H2H history shows the two teams as having met 38 times, of which Villa have won exactly half (W19, D10, L9). A goalless result has only occurred four times during these fixtures, and it also seems unlikely coming into this encounter.
Players to watch: Andreas Weimann (BRI) is the joint-third top scorer in the Championship (five goals, one assist), while Jonathan Kodjia (AST) has been directly involved in four league goals this season (three goals, one assist).
Stat attack: In H2Hs, there is on average 2.44 goals scored per match in the Championship.
Villa are unbeaten in 15 of their last 20 league matches (W8, D7, L5).
One-nil? Four of Bristol City’s last eight competitive games have ended 1-0.
