Match: 20:00 Stoke – Wigan
Prediction: Over 1.5 Goals
Average odds: 1.31
Bookmaker: Bwin
Result: 0:3 WIN!!!

Two teams in dire need of a confidence boost meet at the Bet365 stadium, with Stoke searching for their first home win since January, while Wigan will be gunning for their first win here since 2011.
With just two points from their opening three games, eighteenth-placed Stoke (D2, L1) could see themselves in an early-season bottom-table battle should they fail to pick up points here. A 2-2 away draw to Preston in their last game saved face, but only papered over the fact that they’ve took just 19 league points from 20 games since the turn of 2018.
A strong opener against Sheffield Wednesday saw Wigan (W1, D1, L1) placed in the top-half of the Championship table, but a 3-2 away loss to Villa gave way to a morale-killing 3-1 away cup loss, before drawing 2-2 at home to Forest. With all three of Wigan’s openers seeing over 2.5 goals, manager Paul Cook’s hopes of a second season promotional challenge may hinge on their ability to win-to-nil.
Surprisingly, these teams have only met in 29 head-to-head fixtures – with Stoke winning ten, Wigan seven, along with 12 draws.
Can manager Gary Rowett pull off a first Stoke home win against Wigan in nearly ten years? Or will Wigan get their first away points of the season after chalking up only two away losses in the whole of last season? (League One)
Players to watch: Stoke’s Benik Afobe has scored two goals in three games so far, and will go up against three-goal Nick Powell who has a goal-a-game record for Wigan.
Stat attack: These teams have five 2-2 head-to-head draws in eight previous meetings.
All seven of both teams’ combined games this season have seen over 2.5 goals scored (in all competitions).
In 25 of 37 wins under Cook since August 2017, Wigan have won-to-nil (in all comps).
