MATCH PREVIEW

Spain will be looking to reach the FIFA World Cup (WC) knockout stages for the ninth time in their history when they face Morocco, who are among the sides that have been eliminated from the competition already.
The 2010 WC winners dug deep to claim a lacklustre but vital 1-0 victory over a tenacious Iran side at the Kazan Arena last Wednesday. Ahead of their final clash, Spain sit top of Group B, level on four points with Portugal and only a point clear of the Iranians. A draw against Morocco in Kaliningrad would be enough to guarantee them a place in the round-of-16.
Morocco saw their dreams of making it past the group stages shattered after a 1-0 defeat to Portugal at the Luzhniki Arena. Despite their battling displays, Hervé Renard’s side remain goalless and pointless in Russia.
The only two meetings between the pair to date took place in November 1961, when Spain beat Morocco 1-0 away and 3-2 at home in a two-legged WC qualifying play-off.
Key battle: Can Diego Costa continue his hot scoring streak? The Atlético Madrid striker, who netted a brace in the 3-3 draw with Portugal and the winner against Iran, has fired home nine goals in his last nine starts for Spain. Always a deadly threat.
Morocco shot-stopper Munir has failed to keep a clean sheet in each of his last three games.
Stat attack: Spain are on a stunning 22-game unbeaten run (W15, D7) and they haven’t failed to find the back of the net in any of those matches.
Morocco haven’t conceded more than one goal in their last 21 games (0.52 on average).
Spain have scored four of their last five goals in the second-half.
None of Spain’s previous 29 games have ended in a goalless draw.
