MATCH PREVIEW

Both managers want to fine-tune their squads in the first of three friendly matches scheduled before the World Cup finals. This represents an ideal opportunity for both sides to get all the mistakes out of their system before June.
Even with Cristiano Ronaldo in their starting XI, Portugal were swept away by the Netherlands (3-0) in their latest outing. Prior to that match, Portugal were undefeated since their loss to Chile in Confederations Cup last year (eight games).
Portugal face Tunisia at the Municipal Stadium in Braga, where their current record for internationals is W2, D1, L1. Portugal and Tunisia last faced each other in 2002 and the result was a 1-1 draw. Squads representing the home nation have played against African national teams only twice in the last four years, with a win and a loss.
Tunisia, on the other hand, haven’t had many European opponents recently, save for exhibition matches against a Basque XI and a Catalan XI. They will need the practice against the sort of top opposition they will face at the World Cup. Tunisia have conceded four goals in their latest seven matches and are coming from three clean sheets in a row.
Players to watchCristiano Ronaldo (POR) will play his fourth World Cup finals. He has scored 81 times in 149 appearances for the national team, with five hat-tricks.
Twenty-seven-year-old Wahbi Khazri (TUN) had a solid season with Rennes in French Ligue 1, with nine goals and two assists in 24 matches (23 in the starting XI).
Stat attack: Five of Portugal’s last ten matches produced more than 2.5 goals.
Taking only the last five matches of each team into account, Portugal have a +3 goal difference. Tunisia are even better, with +5, but this is a priceless opportunity to learn from the European champions.
