MATCH PREVIEW

France are considered one of the favourites to progress to the latter stages of the 2018 World Cup, and they will begin the final part of their preparation for the upcoming event in a friendly match against a Colombian team filled with talent.
Les Bleus breezed through their UEFA World Cup Qualifying campaign, winning Group A with 23 points (W7, D2, L1), facing quality opposition in Sweden, Netherlands and Bulgaria. Colombia did not have an easy time in their qualification stage, but still managed to clinch a berth by finishing fourth in the CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiers with 27 points (W7, D6, L5).
France won their first – and only – World Cup on home-soil back in 1998, and will try to repeat that feat 20 years later in Russia. Meanwhile, Colombia have never come close to lifting the trophy, as their best performance came four years ago in Brazil where they reached the quarter finals.
This will be the fourth time these two sides have met, and France have won the three prior meetings. The last time they met was in an international friendly in 2008, and the French side won 1-0. Will it be fourth time lucky for the South Americans?
Players to watchAntoine Griezmann has been one of the stand-out players in Europe since the turn of the year, and is on top form for Atletico Madrid with 12 goals and four assists in ten games across all competitions. He has 19 goals in 49 caps for his country.
Colombia’s hopes of a good result will lie on Radamel Falcao’s shoulders. The Monaco striker has 28 goals in 70 caps for his country, but after spending more than a month on the sidelines due to a recent thigh injury, can the injury-prone player maintain match fitness?
Stat attack: The last two matches between these two sides ended with a 1-0 win for France.
Les Bleus are riding a seven-game undefeated streak across all competitions, with five wins and two draws. They have scored 2+ goals in five of those seven games.
