MATCH PREVIEW

Bottom-placed Metz are deep in relegation danger with only nine matches left to play in Ligue 1 (L1). Meanwhile, Nantes will be hoping to reduce the gap between themselves and a Europa League qualification spot in this round 30 fixture.
In 40 previous L1 meetings at the Stade Saint-Symphorien, Metz have won 15, Nantes have claimed nine victories and the other 16 games have been drawn. However, Nantes have the much better record at Metz in recent history, losing only one of their last eight encounters in the top flight (W3, D4, L1).
After two straight draws in the league, Metz were unsurprisingly trounced 5-0 at the Parc des Princes by PSG last Saturday. Currently winless in their last six L1 matches (D2, L4), Frédéric Hantz’s men still sit bottom of the league, eight points adrift of safety.
Nantes ended their bad run of five straight games without a win (D3, L2) with a 1-0 win against Relegation-threatened Troyes at home. Thanks to this win, Claudio Ranieri’s side have jumped to fifth place in the L1 standings, 11 points behind fourth-placed Lyon.
Players to watch: Metz best player is Nolan Roux who has 11 goals and one assist in L1. He has been directly involved in 46% of his team’s 26 goals.
He will go head-to-head with Nantes top scorer Emiliano Sala, who has 12 goals and three assists this season. He’s on fire at present, scoring four of his team’s last five goals.
Stat attack: Metz have scored in each of their last ten home L1 clashes against Nantes. However, with 24 goals conceded in 14 home matches so far, Metz have the worst home defence in the League.
Nantes are unbeaten in 14 of their last 15 fixtures against Metz in all competitions (W5, D9, L1).
Nantes have won 11 fixtures by a one-goal margin in L1, the highest tally in the league!
