MATCH PREVIEW

Steve Bruce’s Aston Villa continued their promotion charge with a huge 4-1 victory over local rivals and league leaders Wolves at the weekend. They welcome a QPR side who despite a 1-0 weekend win over Sunderland seem to be waiting for the end of the season.
Villa have been near indestructible at home throughout the season – only Cardiff (45) have picked up more points at home than Villa (39).
Conversely, Ian Holloway’s men boast one of the league’s worst away records. They have lost ten of their 17 away games, and picked up just 25.5% of their points on the road.
Expect goals here as QPR have conceded in all but one away game this season – the only clean sheet they kept was a 0-0 draw. Conversely, Villa have failed to score in just three of their 18 home games, each ending as a 0-0 draw (Championship).
The top of the table is beginning to look a lot more interesting as the run in approaches, with Villa now just seven points behind leaders Wolves.
Steve Bruce says it will take a “calamitous crash” for a title upset, however. When asked if they can catch the leaders his response was clear: “We’re English, it is our duty to try and chase”.
Players to watchLewis Grabban (16 goals) and Albert Adomah (14 goals) continued their friendly goal scoring rivalry last time out, each notching a goal for their efforts! Don’t rule either out here.
Assisting 11 goals this term and scoring four himself, Luke Freeman has been the provider for QPR this term. Only Robert Snodgrass has more assists for either side (12).
Stat attack: Both teams have scored in three of the four league meetings between the sides at Villa Park. Each of those games featured over 3.5 goals in total but they were also Premier League encounters.
The only Championship encounter here prior to this game ended in a 1-0 win for Villa last season.
