MATCH PREVIEW

A win for Marseille could see them rise to second place in the Ligue 1 (L1) standings, whilst Nantes will be hoping to reduce the gap between themselves and a Europa League qualification spot.
Of the 40 previous meetings between the sides at the Stade Velodrome, Marseille have won 25, Nantes have claimed seven wins and the other eight games have ended level.
Nantes have not won any of their last four L1 matches, but still sit sixth in the L1 standings. After two draws against Lille at home (2-2) and at Nice (1-1), the Canaries were surprisingly defeated 1-0 by Amiens at La Beaujoire last Saturday.
With Marseille’s goals tally a little over double that of Nantes’ (56-27), the club’s fans – and L1 pundits – are expecting a top-notch home performance.
Marseille are undefeated in their last ten home matches in L1, returning a record of: W8, D2, whilst scoring at least two goals in eight of these last ten matches. Rudi Garcia’s men have also scored at least one goal in each of their last 26 home league fixtures!
Players to watch: Morgan Sanson (MAR) has eight goals and two assists in L1, so far. The 23-year-old’s recent form has been a highlight, with two goals in his last four L1 appearances.
Nantes’ best player so far this season is arguably Emiliano Sala, who has 11 goals and three assists – with four coming in his last five games in the league.
Stat attack: Nantes have won only one of their last nine trips to Marseille in the top flight (W1, D3, L6).
However, they have lost only one of their last six away league fixtures (W2, D3, L1) and have scored at least one goal in each of their last eight away clashes.
