MATCH PREVIEW

The closest Serie A (SA) title race in the recent past will witness a decisive clash when Napoli host Roma. While Napoli will hope to keep winning, Roma will be looking to gain ground in the top-four race.
The hosts are in red-hot form, having won their last ten SA games. That, however, puts them only four points ahead of Juventus, which could be cut back to a lone point before this game starts. Having already orchestrated exits from all cup competitions, Napoli are desperate to keep winning and stay ahead of Juve.
Roma’s top-four chances have taken a hit due to their indifferent start to 2018, but have since picked up three wins in their last four SA games. However, a loss to Napoli will further erode their chances of making the top-four.
Napoli have won their last five SA home games, scoring 13 and conceding four. The hosts have been uncharacteristically solid at the back – conceding a league-low 15 goals.
The visitors have lost only once on the road this season (W7, D4), but more importantly, they have won just twice in their last seven matches (D4, L1). Roma will hope to add to that tally despite injuries to key personnel.
Key battles: Cengiz Under has five goals in his last five matches for Roma and will once again be the key. He will face Napoli’s defensive rock Mario Rui, who has been an admirable replacement.
Stat attack: Napoli have scored the most from set-pieces (18) while only Inter have conceded fewer than Roma (six).
Napoli’s goal tally of 60 equals their best tally after 26 games.
Napoli have kept six clean sheets in their last eight (75%) SA encounters.
