MATCH PREVIEW

Following a 2-0 victory over Huddersfield, new Stoke coach Paul Lambert will look to continue that trend against against a tenth-placed Watford side who have recently had their own changes in the dugout.
After losing their first Premier League (PL) match against Watford back in October 2015, Stoke have enjoyed playing the Hornets, winning each of their last four both at half time and full time.
New Watford head coach Javi Garcia could be without 11 players for his first game in charge – he will hope to be the first Watford manager to win his first game in charge. After a poor run of form, the Watford fans will hope Garcia can inspire a much-needed away win here.
Stoke will be looking to achieve back-to-back PL wins for the first time since January 2017 – a run which saw them beat Watford 1-0 away. In the last game between the sides earlier this season, Stoke also won 1-0 even though Watford claimed 70% of possession and garnered 15 shots on goal.
With both teams recently partaking in the managers’ merry-go-round, both fanbases are stoked and hope that the ‘New Manager Syndrome’ will help them gain an important victory. Could the new managers’ need for a win, in fact, cancel each other out? Or could we see a high-scoring battle?
Players to watch: Stoke top goalscorer Mame Biram Diouf has been in-form for the Potters this season scoring five goals.
Malian midfielder Abdoulaye Doucouré has seven goals and one assist for Watford.
Stat attack: Watford have failed to score in 274 minutes of football against Stoke and have a dire 22% away record in all competitions.
Moreover, Watford have lost their last five away PL matches and have conceded at least two goals in their last four matches.
Stoke will be hoping that Ryan Shawcross is in the team as Stoke concede an average of 1.56 goals per game; however, without him, that figure doubles to 3.12.
